Performance is what already happened, and nobody in the room can change it before the meeting ends. State is what is true right now: which listings a customer can buy, how many units sit in a fulfilment centre with no offer against them, what Amazon is asking you for, who else is on your ASINs. State can be changed this afternoon.

It reviews outcomes. A revenue chart goes on screen, three people theorise about why the line moved, and nobody opens the Account Health page. The chart is real; it describes the past.

The order is not a preference. Lanes are sorted by how fast the damage becomes irreversible, so what can end the business is read while the hour is still ahead of you.

Open the Account Health page. Read the band at the top, then the required actions, before you read any percentage. A required action is a discrete event with a case attached and usually a response date inside the notification; a percentage is a rolling average that moved a little. Colour is not priority — a required action sitting quietly down the page outranks any red number.

Three numbers, the same three every week, each written next to last week's: listings inactive, listings suppressed, units stranded. Amazon's published route to the first two is Inventory, then Manage All Inventory, then the Listing status filter. Amazon calls the errors behind them "messages that contain information paired with a reference number" — most are fixable by the person reading them, not by a case.

Read the delta, not the absolute. Twelve suppressed ASINs that have sat there a month is a backlog; two that became twelve on Tuesday is a bulk edit that went wrong and is probably still going wrong. Then name the ASINs out loud; if nobody can, the lane is being managed as a count.

The longest lane: it holds the most decisions still reversible this week. Four readings — weeks of cover per SKU rather than units on hand, what is inbound but not yet receivable, what has aged into excess, and how much headroom is left.

Capacity is volume, so a bulky low-margin SKU crowds out a small high-margin one; make that trade-off here, or the warehouse makes it for you. The cadence built on this lane is building a replenishment cadence that survives Q4.

Every lane has a named person, and that person holds the permission the lane requires. Not a team, not a rota, not "operations". Whoever is accountable for suppressed listings needs Edit on Manage All Inventory; whoever is accountable for policy actions needs Edit on Manage Your Cases. Otherwise both are reporters.

Every item leaves the room closed, assigned to a person with a date, or dropped on purpose and out loud. There is no fourth state. "We'll keep an eye on it" is the fourth state in disguise, and it is how a fifty-minute review becomes a ninety-minute status report.

The costs are not symmetrical, which is why the order matters more than the contents. A suppressed ASIN keeps charging you while it is dark: storage still accrues on units nobody can buy, ads can still spend against a page that cannot convert, and the ranking history does not come back the day the listing does. Two weeks suppressed costs more than two weeks. A performance notification, meanwhile, carries its own response date, and that date does not pause because the review moved to Thursday.

Two signals show the review degrading before the numbers do. A carried-item list that grows two weeks running means the meeting has stopped closing things. And the same lane producing the same item three weeks running is not an item; it is a process that does not exist yet.

Run this for six weeks and you should be able to say, without opening anything, which lane is costing you money and who is holding it. What it will not tell you is whether a SKU is worth restocking at all — that is a margin question, not an operations one. The review is worth sixty minutes a week only because it stays that narrow.
